Paurohitya a sacred
service to mankind...!!!
To become a Vedic intellectual to perform rituals for others, called
pundit or purohit or pujari or archaka, one has to go through numerous years of
Vedic studies (normally eight years), later take mantra deeksha from a Guru,
observe the stringent rules laid down for the ritualistic way of life of a
priest. We still have few people from traditional families who take up this
profession.
Every Hindu is aware that poojas are remedies for the day to day problems
we face in this kaliyuga and several people have asked us to start a service
where they can find genuine and sincere Vedic Pandit’s who can perform the
authentic poojas as approved in the shastra. Those who do not have awareness of
performing pooja, archana, Havana or homa and Aparakarma can take the help of
the Purohits / Archaka / Pandit / Bhatji to do it for them.
It is a real tough job – tougher than getting an MBBS OR
MBA or for that matter any professional studies.
What is not known to people is; it
is actually the finest profession to make decent money which any other
profession fetches but still in today’s social ladder the “status” or
“position” of a priest is not worth mentioning. All other professions have a
better standing in the society today than a Vedic priest which is mainly
because of the lack of knowledge to general public. But still in this amazing
country of ours some very highly intellectual and disciplined young people from
very good families who live life far more superior than of those working in
MNCs, Banks or any job take up this profession and keep the Vedic flames
blazing We have good number of Pandit’s registered with us who are Vedic
Brahmins from Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamilnadu, Kerala and Andhrapradesh. All
of them are from traditional Vedashala background of Murgod, Anandavana- Agadi,
Shringeri, Kanchipuram, Mantralayam, Dharwad to name a few which are the
citadels of Vedic learning, famous for their strict and thorough training of
Pandit’s. They do not compromise with any rituals and do not perform any
shortcut poojas. The perfect rhythm and clarity with which they deliver the
Vedic mantras is truly divine music to the ears. All of them follow the Shukla
/ Krishnapaksha system of Yajur Veda, Rigveda, Saamaveda and Atharvanaveda, as taught
by Veda Vyasa, which is the core of Hindu rituals. Rigveda – which is the main
fund-house of hymns and mantras in praise of the Gods; Sama-Veda – the favorite
of the Gods and famous for its verses set to melodious musical rhythm
Atharvana-Veda which is a treasure trove of remedies and Tantrik mantras.
Normally it is ideal to have all the four Veda specialists to perform a Homa,
though it is not a compulsory rule.
